MLA for Mangaluru City North Y. Bharat Shetty has written to Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy seeking the merger of KIOCL Ltd. with NMDC Ltd.

In his May 25 missive to the Minister, Dr. Shetty said: “...KIOCL Ltd. has a glorious bequest but is presently facing terrible operational distress. Merging KIOCL Ltd. with a stable, resource-rich cardinal PSU similar NMDC Ltd. volition unafraid the company’s future, safeguard the livelihoods of its dedicated workforce and optimise nationalist mining resources...”

The MLA said that the operations of KIOCL person been wholly disrupted due to the fact that the Karnataka authorities has not granted the last mining support for the Devadari Iron Ore Project. This prolonged standstill has pushed the employees and their families into immense fiscal uncertainty.

“I raised this captious mater during the caller Assembly session. Unfortunately, the State authorities has not responded positively truthful far. Therefore, I humbly impulse the Central authorities to exert its power and unit the State authorities to assistance the pending mining approvals for the Devadari task immediately,” Dr. Shetty wrote.

The MLA said that labourers of KIOCL are facing hardship owing to galore unresolved issues, which request to beryllium addressed by the KIOCL absorption immediately.

Dr. Shetty requested the Minister to nonstop KIOCL absorption to code the issues of labourers.
