Maharashtra government employees begin indefinite strike over pension notification

About 1.7 cardinal State government, semi-government, teaching, non-teaching and Class IV employees successful Maharashtra began an indefinite onslaught connected Friday (April 17, 2026), citing unaddressed demands including the issuance of a notification for a revised pension scheme. The authorities has said it volition dainty the onslaught arsenic misconduct and enforce a ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy.

Two worker organisations, the State Government Employees’ Central Association and the State Government Group-D (Class IV) Employees’ Central Federation, had issued a onslaught announcement earlier. The unions said that though a revised pension strategy was implemented connected March 1, 2024, a corresponding authoritative notification has not been issued. As a result, retired employees are not receiving immoderate status benefits.
