Madras High Court orders notice to Election Commission in case against Chief Minister’s secretary

The Madras High Court, connected Friday (April 10, 2026), ordered notices to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) connected a nationalist involvement litigation petition accusing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s caput P. Umanath of having violated the exemplary codification of behaviour by issuing administrative instructions to Collectors and constabulary officers.

First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan besides allowed an exertion by the petitioner, A.
