The Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel connected Wednesday presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned violin vidwan and composer T.K. Padmanabhan for his publication to Carnatic music.
He received the grant during the 21st edition of the Sterling-Rotary Parallel Music Festival astatine the Kasturi Srinivasan Hall of The Music Academy. The ceremonial coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Awards were presented to veena vidwan and vocalist S. Srinivasan (Distinguished Musician Award) and morsing and mridangam vidwan N.V. Thirumurugan (Promising Musician).
Promising Musician Award, announced successful 2020 and 2021, were presented to vocalists Vidushi Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and vidwan K.T. Uday Kiran respectively.
President of The Music Academy N. Murali, who was the main impermanent astatine the event, lauded the sustained committedness of the Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel successful nurturing what began arsenic a Parallel Music Festival to “The Music Festival” — a mainstream solemnisation of inclusivity and creator excellence.
He extended his champion wishes to The Music Academy’s Sangeetha Kalanidhi-designate R.K. Shriramkumar.
Chairperson of the festival R. Sridhar said though the festival began successful 2005, the awards were presented lone from 2010. Over the years, astir 50 musicians were honoured.
Senior vice-president, Branding, Sterling Holiday Resorts, M. Harinath said they were delighted to beryllium the sponsors for this event.
Rotary District 3234 politician A.K.S. Vinod Saraogi and territory archetypal woman Usha Saraogi, nine president Y. Kavitha and nine caput Ramesh Ananth were present. Club members, musicians, donors and well-wishers were honoured astatine the event.
