A committee headed by filmmaker and shaper P.T. Kunju Muhammed and consisting of screenwriter Cheriyan Kalpakavadi, filmmakers Shanavas Bavakutty and Asha Achy Joseph and professional Jithin K.C. besides chose the 12 films that would beryllium portion of the Malayalam Cinema Today section.
The films to beryllium screened nether the conception are Ebb directed by Jeo Baby, Samastha Loka by Sherry Govindan, Aditya Baby’s Ambrosia, Nipin Narayanan’s Kaathiripp, Rajesh Madhavan’s Pennum Porattum, Rinoshun K.’s Shavappetti, Mini I.G.’s Aadi Snehathinte Virunnu Mesha, Sheshipp directed by Sreejith S. Kumar and Gritto Vincent, K. Sreekumar’s Anyarude Aakashangal, Arun Vardhan’s Oru Apasarppaka Katha, Fazil Razak’s Moham, and Vishnu B. Beena’s Chaavu Kalyanam. Nine of the 14 Malayalam films selected for the festival are by debutants.
