Labour Dept. plans to put up resting sheds for construction workers across the State

The Labour Department has made plans to enactment up 50 resting sheds for operation workers passim the State, with the inaugural targeting municipality section bodies. 

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is spearheading a aviator project, which includes plans to acceptable up these facilities successful high-traffic areas, where operation workers often walk extended periods.

Following this, the civic body’s Special Projects helping prepared a prototype for the projected shed. In June 2025, the GCC opened dedicated 24-hour lounges for gig workers.

An authoritative said the installation for operation workers would see seating, fans, and toilets.
