Saranya J.S., a autochthonal of Tanur in Malappuram, has been selected for the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA) instituted and funded by the European Commission. 

The highly competitory two-year fellowship volition enactment her task titled “Indian Ocean Warming Pattern, Surface and Subsurface Marine Heatwaves: Storylines and Mechanisms (IO-WAVE)”, to beryllium carried retired successful France. 

Ms. Saranya’s research volition analyse however Indian Ocean warming patterns and large clime modes power aboveground and subsurface marine heatwaves. The task volition harvester clime exemplary valuation and high-resolution simulations to make aboriginal storylines of marine heatwave risks. The fellowship volition beryllium hosted astatine IRD/LOCEAN-IPSL, France, with a secondment astatine Mercator Ocean International. 

Ms. Saranya completed her PhD from Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea, successful 2025 nether the supervision of Prof. SungHyun Nam. She earlier carried retired her Master’s probe astatine the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) nether the guidance of Roxy Mathew Koll, with co-supervision from Nameer P.O., and completed her integrated B.Sc-M.Sc in Climate Change Adaptation from the College of Climate Change and Environmental Science, Vellanikkara, Kerala Agricultural University. She is presently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow astatine the Ocean Observation Laboratory, Seoul National University. 

She is the girl of Sasikumar M.K. and Jayanthi K.V., and is joined to Dr. Panini Dasgupta.
