Kerala govt. sanctions ₹50 crore to Supplyco for market intervention in the run-up to Christmas-New Year season

The Kerala authorities has sanctioned ₹50 crore for the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) for marketplace involution programmes to avert emergence successful the prices of indispensable commodities during the Christmas-New Year season.

The magnitude of ₹50 crore is implicit and supra the Budget allocation earmarked for Supplyco for marketplace intervention. The 2025-26 Budget allocation of ₹250 crore was released for marketplace involution schemes up of this year’s Onam season.

In 2024-25, the State authorities had released ₹489 crore to Supplyco though the fund allocation was ₹250 crore, Mr. Balagopal said.

From 2011-12 to 2024-25, the State authorities has released ₹7,680 crore to Supplyco for marketplace involution connected assorted occasions. Of this, ₹410 crore was released during UDF regularisation and ₹7270 crore, during LDF rule, Mr. Balagopal said.
