Shanimol Usman of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and P. Prasad of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) won the Aroor and Cherthala constituencies respectively successful Alappuzha district.
Ms. Usman wrested backmost the Aroor spot from CPI(M)’s sitting MLA Daleema by a borderline of 9,324 votes. She secured 74,469 votes against Ms. Daleema’s 65,145. P.S. Jyothis of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) finished a distant 3rd with 20,334 votes, a flimsy summation from the 17,479 votes polled by the enactment campaigner 5 years earlier.
