The Kerala High Court connected Tuesday (March 10, 2026) issued notices to actor Dileep and others successful the 2017 histrion rape case, a fortnight aft the Kerala authorities filed a petition challenging their acquittal

The authorities had successful its entreaty besides sought enhancement of the punishment awarded to the six convicts successful the case.

The government’s contention was that the acquittal of Mr. Dileep and 3 others by the Ernakulam Sessions Court was “illegal and contrary to the grounds connected record. The judgement was amerciable and unsustainable, and liable to beryllium acceptable speech and modified”.

Moreover, the condemnation awarded was “highly disproportionate and inadequate, considering the quality of the offences, the mode of execution, and the panic created successful society,” the authorities submitted successful its plea.

It further argued that the proceedings tribunal “gravely erred” successful instrumentality and connected facts, and failed to “undertake a broad and holistic valuation of the prosecution grounds successful its entirety” against each the accused who were charged with the aforesaid offences, for being members of the transgression conspiracy.
