After the Karnataka Information Commission flagged issues successful the proviso of 17 all-in-one computers that did not conscionable its specification, the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) has agreed to regenerate them with those that conscionable specifications.
The committee had raised the contented of computers that had been supplied by KEONICS done a 3rd enactment vendor not gathering its specifications, particularly not having cameras. Commission sources said that with the cases being held online, the commission’s enactment would severely get affected if the computers did not adhere to specifications. Of the full 22 computers supplied, lone 5 had met the specifications.
In response, the KEONICS has said that the 17 all-in-one computers would beryllium replaced with those that would adhere to the specification astatine the earliest.
Show-cause notice
Meanwhile, it is learnt that KEONICS has issued show-cause announcement to the vendor Intellic Systems, which had supplied desktops to the commission.
The announcement said that a different/ non-empanelled exemplary of all-in-one computers has been supplied to the Karnataka Information Commission alternatively of the empanelled and approved model. This constitutes a wide deviation from the declaration and usurpation of the approved terms, tender conditions, and prescribed method specification, it said.
Response from vendor
Promising to proviso the stipulated model, the vendor said that since the empanelled exemplary was not disposable successful stock, a higher-end exemplary was supplied that offered superior processing velocity and enhanced wide performance.
Owing to prevailing planetary proviso constraints and delay, the banal of specified exemplary was not received wrong the stipulated timeframe, and hence had started the proviso of high-end exemplary keeping successful caput the timeline of supply, the vendor said successful the response. The vendor further said that aft learning astir the camera not being embedded, installation of 17 computers was not undertaken.
