The High Court of Karnataka connected Tuesday (May 5, 2026) stayed the probe into the First Information Report (FIR) registered against BJP’s D.N. Jeevaraj, the newly-declared MLA from Sringeri assembly constituency, for allegedly tampering with postal ballot papers and documents related to counting of votes.

A abrogation seat of Justice V. Srisananda passed the interim bid connected the petition filed by Mr. Jeevaraj, who had challenged the FIR registered by Chikkamagaluru Town Police against him, erstwhile Deputy Commissioner K.N. Ramesh, erstwhile Returning Officer (RO) Vedamurthy and others connected the complaint of tampering with postal ballot papers, among different offences. The lawsuit was filed connected May 3, hours aft Mr. Jeevaraj declared victor pursuing the workout of re-verification and recount of postal ballots.
