Karnataka High Court declines to stay ongoing Social and Educational Survey

The High Court of Karnataka connected Thursday (September 25, 2025) declined to enactment the ongoing societal and acquisition survey, popularly known arsenic the caste survey.

Directing the State authorities to support confidentiality of data, the Court besides maintained that the survey should beryllium voluntary.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice C.M. Joshi said they “do not find crushed to interdict the ongoing survey”.

“We, however, authorities that the information collected shall not beryllium disclosed to anyone. The Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC) shall guarantee that information is afloat protected and confidential,” the seat noted.

The judges besides directed the KSCBC to contented nationalist notification that this survey is voluntary and nary 1 is compelled to disclose immoderate information, which the enumerators person to archer the public.
