Japan PM says wants 'constructive' China ties, Taiwan stance 'unchanged'

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said connected Friday (November 21, 2025) that she wants "constructive" ties with China and that the country's stance connected Taiwan remains "unchanged" amid a spat with Beijing implicit the island.

"At the extremity of past month, President Xi [Jinping] and I confirmed the wide absorption of comprehensively advancing our strategic, mutually beneficial narration and gathering a constructive and unchangeable relationship," Ms. Takaichi told reporters.

"The government's presumption remains unchanged" connected Taiwan, she added.
