IREL (India) Limited has taken guardant its connection to extract atomic minerals on the coastline of Kanniyakumari territory by seeking Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance from the Union Environment Ministry. The connection is presently being examined.
The task is designed to excavation atomic and associated dense minerals — specified arsenic monazite, zircon, ilmenite, rutile, sillimanite, and garnet — crossed a 1,144-hectare coastal loop successful Killiyoor taluk.
