The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad, celebrated the planetary coastal clean-up time connected Saturday (September 20, 2025) by organising a clean-up thrust astatine Ponnani beach.

INCOIS, an autonomous assemblage nether the Ministry of Earth Sciences, cleaned up the formation successful relation with Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos), MES Ponnani College, and Ponnani municipality. The thrust was portion of the Union government’s ‘Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar’ campaign.

Ponnani municipal chairperson Sivadasan Attupuram inaugurated the drive. INCOIS idiosyncratic A.G. Nidheesh explained the institute’s water accusation services and stressed the request to safeguard the marine ecosystem from pollution, peculiarly integrative waste.

Scientists, students, and section volunteers joined hands to cleanable up the shoreline and dispersed consciousness astir water pollution. They highlighted however integrative discarded harms the quality of the coasts and endangers marine life. Around 100 kg of integrative discarded was collected during the clean-up drive.
