The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) connected Monday (May 4, 2026) swept the Assam Assembly elections, bagging 101 of the 126 seats to clasp powerfulness for a 3rd consecutive term. However, the elections besides saw notable defeats for the sons of 3 erstwhile Chief Ministers, marking a important displacement successful the State’s governmental landscape.

Among those defeated was Gaurav Gogoi, the State Congress president and sitting Member of Parliament.
