A pistillate giraffe named Shivani died astatine the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) connected Thursday.
BBP said that the giraffe aged astir 3 years and 10 months stopped eating from May 3.
“The champion imaginable veterinary attraction was provided by the squad of veterinarians. However, she did not respond to the attraction and yet succumbed connected May 7,” BBP said.
It added that a postmortem was conducted and the study reveals that the decease was owed to caecal torsion.
“Visceral samples person been collected and sent to the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals laboratory for further examination,” it added.
The giraffe was shifted from Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens successful February 2024.
