GE Aerospace, IAF to set up engine repair facility for Tejas fleet in India

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the U.S.-based craft motor shaper — GE Aerospace — connected Monday (April 13, 2026) announced a declaration to found an in-country depot installation for F404-IN20 engines powering the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas fleet, marking a large boost to India’s indigenous defence sustainment capabilities.

In a statement, GE Aerospace said the installation would beryllium acceptable up and operated by the IAF, with method support, training, and proviso of spares and specialised instrumentality from GE Aerospace. Once operational, it would destruct dependence connected overseas repair centres, importantly improving turnaround clip for motor maintenance.
