Four persons were arrested and 8,100 painkiller tablets worthy astir ₹2.7 lakh were seized during a raid conducted by the Erode Town Police connected Monday (June 1).

According to the police, acting connected a tip-off that the tablets were being stocked for amerciable merchantability adjacent a food store connected Nachiappa Street, a squad conducted a hunt and apprehended 4 suspects. The arrested were identified arsenic K. Gowrishankar (22) of Thirunagar Colony, T. Vignesh (22) of Pallipalayam successful Namakkal district, N. Mohamed Jameel (21) of Krishnampalayam and P. Deepak (24) of Kamala Nagar.

The constabulary said the tablets are a potent painkiller prescribed for post-surgical treatment. The constabulary besides seized a two-wheeler allegedly utilized by the accused. A lawsuit has been registered, and the accused were produced earlier a court, which remanded them.
