Former Vice Chief of Army Staff passes away

A erstwhile Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Vijay Oberoi, passed distant successful Chandigarh Army Hospital connected Sunday. He was 84.

He was commissioned into the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) successful June 1961.

In 1965, portion serving with the Marathas successful J&K, helium was grievously wounded and mislaid his close leg. But helium continued to service the federation for implicit 40 years. He was the founder-president of War Wounded Foundation and Founder-Director of Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS).

He fought for dignity and fiscal independency of war-disabled soldiers. At 72, helium ran the Mumbai Marathon connected his prosthetic limb to beryllium that tone ne'er retires, said a release.
