In a bid to fortify the State’s fisheries sector, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah connected Saturday announced that the compensation nether the Fishermen’s Distress Relief Fund had been accrued from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.

Speaking aft inaugurating the World Fisheries Day celebrations and Matsya Mela – 2025 connected the Hebbal Veterinary College campus, helium said the authorities had released ₹9.48 crore towards 264 compensation cases implicit the past 2 years.

The Chief Minister said implicit 10 lakh radical depended connected fisheries for their livelihood. Karnataka produced 9.63 lakh tonnes of food successful 2024–25, ranking 3rd successful full food accumulation nationwide.
