Farmers, traders urged to utilise warehouses and cold storages in Erode district

Collector S. Kandasamy has urged farmers and traders to marque afloat usage of the warehouses and acold retention facilities at regulated markets crossed the district, either connected a rental oregon declaration basis.

Farmers and traders tin avail loans up to 70–75% of nutrient value from banks using electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWRs). Loans worth ₹2 crore have been sanctioned nether this strategy during the existent fiscal.

Modern cold storages are functioning at 11 locations, including Alukuli, Sathyamangalam, Chithode, Thalavadi and Bargur, with a full capableness of respective 1000 tonnes. So far, 270 farmers have benefited by storing 4,400 tonnes of produce.

The facilities preserve turmeric, pulses, chillies, tamarind, coriander, and even perishable fruits and vegetables without prime nonaccomplishment oregon preservatives.
