The farmers crossed Dindigul territory connected Monday staged a protestation successful beforehand of the Dindigul Collectorate demanding that the State authorities waive cooperative harvest loans arsenic promised. Various farmers’ organisations submitted their petitions to Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan pursuing the protests.

Over 150 farmers participated successful the protest. The protesters said astir of them were tiny and marginal farmers. More than 150 cultivation products were being produced successful Tamil Nadu. Among them, the Central authorities had fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for lone 21 products and determination was procurement of lone sugarcane, paddy, and copra (dried coconut).

The farmers said they were not receiving a just terms for 98% of the full nutrient products they produced. They were facing a increasing debt. As a result, the farmers said they were forced to merchantability the onshore to repay the debts. The farmers had suffered losses implicit the past 5 years and were incapable to wage the loans.

They said a committedness had been made that cooperative harvest loans would beryllium waived wholly for farmers owning nether 5 acres of onshore holding and waived by 50% for the farmers owning implicit 5 acres of onshore holding.

The farmers demanded that the State authorities wholly waive each cooperative harvest loans of the farmers arsenic a one-time measure. They urged the State authorities to fulfil the committedness which was made and to support the livelihood of the farmers.
