A radical of farmers picketed the Salem Collectorate connected Monday (June 1), demanding a afloat indebtedness waiver. Recently the authorities had announced waiver of harvest loans up to ₹50,000 taken from cooperative banks. Over 200 farmers picketed the collectorate, demanding that the TVK-led authorities honour its predetermination committedness of afloat waiving the harvest loans of farmers with up to 5 acres of land. The constabulary stopped them from entering the Collectorate and allowed 5 farmers to taxable their petitions to the officials.
