Elderly couple kept under ‘digital arrest’ for over two weeks in Delhi; duped of ₹14 crore

An aged doc mates residing successful southbound Delhi's Greater Kailash was allegedly cheated of astir ₹14 crore aft cybercriminals placed them nether "digital arrest" for implicit 2 weeks, constabulary said connected Saturday (January 10, 2026).

The fraud allegedly took spot betwixt December 24 and January 9, with the accused impersonating instrumentality enforcement officials and coercing the aged mates to transportation wealth to aggregate slope accounts, they said.

An e-FIR was lodged connected Saturday (January 10), pursuing which the cybercrime portion of Delhi Police initiated an investigation.

According to the police, the doc mates had returned from the United States and had been surviving successful Greater Kailash since 2016. Their children are settled abroad.

The accused allegedly exploited the couple's isolation and repeatedly threatened them with apprehension and ineligible action, forcing them to stay connected continuous telephone and video calls, constabulary said.

The fraud came to airy aft the calls stopped connected January 9, prompting the mates to attack the authorities, they added.
