ED tells HC it would probe seizure of high-value pre-owned cars smuggled from Bhutan into Kerala

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has successful an oral submission informed the Kerala High Court that it would probe Tuesday’s seizure by Customs unit of 36 high-value pre-owned cars that are suspected to person been smuggled from Bhutan into Kerala, and were allegedly owned by a fewer movie stars and others.

The ED’s counsel submitted this earlier a Division Bench of Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice S. Muralee Krishna, erstwhile the tribunal asked whether the bureau intended to analyse the matter. Quoting media reports astir the Customs raid and the seizure of vehicles, the tribunal posed the question erstwhile it was proceeding an entreaty successful transportation with a lawsuit registered nether the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED would besides analyse whether the offence attracted provisions of the PMLA and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FERA), its counsel said.
