A LEGO gathering blocks acceptable — implicit with bricks, cars and bridges — is the item of my toddler’s artifact cupboard. It has been successful my household for implicit 3 decades, surviving unsmooth play among cousins, flooded homes, and years locked distant successful an attic. Its continued usability is nary accident: LEGO is made from tough, impact-resistant ABS plastic, a non-toxic, food-grade material; and its quiescent presumption arsenic a cherished hand-me-down has kept it live crossed generations.
But arsenic a caller mother, I’ve felt the unit to spell wholly plastic-free. I’ve bought my stock of woody and bamboo toys and cutlery, drawn by their committedness of being much sustainable. The reality, however, has been much mixed than I expected. Food stains cling to the different charismatic bamboo plates, and wrong weeks, the handles of woody play utensils travel loose. I find myself returning to the sturdier stainless alloy room acceptable from my childhood, oregon opting for different toys made from the durable ABS plastic.
