DVAC sleuths arrest ration shop supervisor for taking bribe

A ration store supervisor at Mookkaiyur who received bribe for ration paper support was arrested by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption officials present connected Thursday. 

Police said the complainant from Sayalgudi area had wanted to get a ration paper successful his wife’s name. He had applied connected online done an e-sevai centre around March 2025.  

When helium later inquired about the presumption of the ration paper with the officers at Kadaladi taluk office, helium was directed to conscionable the section ration store nether which his location fell.  

About 10 days ago, erstwhile the complainant met the Mookkaiyur ration store worker Muthulakshmi, 49, the latter had demanded ₹3,500 arsenic a bribe for the ration card.

A fewer days ago, erstwhile helium contacted the ration store worker over the phone to explicate his urgent request to get the paper truthful arsenic to avail attraction for his woman nether the authorities security scheme, the supervisor still insisted him to wage ₹3,000.  

Police added that the supervisor allegedly citing the request to stock the bribe with her higher officials, refused to perceive to the complainant.  

Following this, the complainant registered a ailment with the DVAC officials and sought enactment against the ration store worker. 

Acting connected the instructions of the DVAC police, the complainant gave the impermanent employee ₹3,000 successful chemically treated currency. 

The police caught a helper red-handed portion accepting the money. During investigation, it was confirmed that the helper was collecting the wealth connected the instructions of supervisor Muthulakshmi. Consequently, the Anti-Corruption constabulary arrested Muthulakshmi and are presently interrogating her.
