DRI seizes 70 tonnes of firecrackers at Nhava Sheva; two arrested

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai Zonal Unit, has seized 70 metric tonnes of Chinese-origin firecrackers connected Monday, 20 April — smuggled into India and arrested 2 persons. The seizure, valued at₹17.07 crore, was made from 4 containers astatine Nhava Sheva Port nether an cognition codenamed “Pyro Heist”.

The consignments were declared arsenic different goods to evade customs inspection. The accused had attempted to determination the firecrackers from the imported containers to different conveyance astatine a Container Freight Station (CFS) aft breaking the instrumentality seals.
