Of the 4 Assembly constituencies of Ramanathapuram, Thiruvadanai, Paramakudi (SC) and Mudukulathur in the district, DMK has won successful 3 and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam successful one.

The 3 sitting DMK MLAs, R.S. Rajakannappan, Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam and K.K. Kathiravan won successful Mudukulathur, Ramanathapuram and Paramakudi with a borderline of 16,598, 12,459 and 3,548 votes, respectively.
