DGCA levies ₹20.4 crore penalty on IndiGo for flight disruptions in December

Aviation information regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) connected Saturday (January 17, 2026) imposed a punishment of ₹20.4 crore connected IndiGo hose for formation disruptions successful December 2025, which led to cancellation of astir 1,852 flights.

The enquiry by the DGCA recovered excessive absorption connected “maximising utilisation of crew, craft and web resources” arsenic the origin of the operational meltdown.

The enquiry committee, headed by DGCA Joint Director General Sanjay K Bramhane, was constituted connected December 5 to behaviour a broad reappraisal and appraisal of the circumstances that led to the monolithic formation disruptions.
