Former Chief Election Commissioner of India S.Y. Quraishi connected Saturday said that ideology is astatine a captious juncture, some globally and peculiarly successful India.

He was speaking astatine the 2nd time of the 29th ‘Profcon’ Global Professional Students’ league organised by Wisdom Islamic Students’ Organisation State Committee here.

Mr. Quraishi said: “More radical are present surviving nether authoritarian regimes than successful the past 3 decades. Democratic countries look exhausted. Voter information is declining and spot successful law institutions is eroding. India, arsenic the world’s largest democracy, has a decisive relation and work successful this context.“

He noted that undermining national systems, weakening interior ideology wrong governmental parties, declining media freedom, proliferation of fake news, and polarisation based connected religion and caste are threatening the achievements India has gained done democracy.

Mr. Quraishi emphasised that professionals should get method skills portion besides processing civic consciousness and go guardians of antiauthoritarian values. He added that civic literacy should beryllium included successful nonrecreational education.
