Delhi HC penalises ‘serial litigant’ for filing multiple petitions but not pursuing them

The Delhi High Court connected Thursday imposed a good of ₹50,000 connected a ‘serial litigant’ who filed aggregate petitions against the amerciable operation successful the Capital but did not prosecute them later.

In an bid dated December 2, the tribunal said, “It is wide that the petitioner is simply a serial litigant and has been filing assorted writ petitions against a fig of properties situated successful the country successful question. The writ petitions, arsenic filed by the petitioner, are not pressed by the petitioner aft filing.”

The tribunal was proceeding the 5th writ petition filed by the litigant, Hardeep Singh Haspal, regarding the amerciable operation of a spot successful RK Puram. Referring to the earlier judgments, the tribunal noted that it had made it wide aggregate times that nary 1 tin misuse the process of the tribunal by filing petitions for “oblique motives”.

The counsel of the Municipal Cooperation of Delhi (MCD) stated that the petitioner filed 4 writ petitions betwixt April and May this year.

The tribunal directed the MCD to instrumentality enactment against the alleged unauthorised construction, to which the counsel replied that the civic assemblage was looking into the issue.
