A time aft scripting a historical mandate successful West Bengal, the BJP connected Tuesday (May 5, 2026) inched its tally up to 207 seats successful the 294-member assembly, pursuing a recount-triggered triumph successful the Rajarhat-New Town constituency, adding a last furniture of play to an already landmark verdict.

The further spot came aft BJP campaigner Piyush Kanodia defeated sitting two-term TMC MLA Tapash Chatterjee by a slender borderline of 309 votes aft a recount, pushing the party’s last tally from 206 to 207.
