Dakshina Kannada court sentences five persons to 12 to 14 years RI for peddling MDMA

The Dakshina Kannada District and Sessions Court connected Saturday sentenced 5 radical to rigorous imprisonment ranging from 12 to 14 years nether the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, aft uncovering them blameworthy of cause peddling.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Basavaraj had earlier convicted Lual Daniel Justine Boulo alias Dany, nonmigratory of Varthur, Bengaluru; Mohammed Rameez of Uppala, Kasaragod; Moiddin Rasheed from Jumma Masjid Road, Kasaragod; Abdul Ravoof alias Tough Ravoof of Uppala, Kasaragod, and Sabitha alias Chinchu from Madiwala, Bengaluru, for offences nether Section 21 (C) of NDPS Act (offences involving commercialized quantity of manufactured drugs) and Section 27 (B) of the aforesaid Act (consumption of narcotic drugs).

The tribunal sentenced Boulo and Rameez to 14 years RI with ₹1.55 lakh fine; Rasheed to 12 years RI with ₹1.35 lakh fine; Ravoof to 13 years RI and a good of ₹1.45 lakh, and Sabitha to 12 years RI with a good of ₹1.35 lakh, said Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

Mr. Reddy said the Central Crime Branch Police conducted a raid connected June 14, 2022, astatine a premises successful the metropolis and apprehended the accused connected the complaint of readying to merchantability MDMA to students.

The constabulary had seized 125 gm of the substance from the accused. A lawsuit was registered with the Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Crime Police Station, who had investigated the lawsuit and led the prosecution. Principal Public Prosecutor Judith O.M. Crasta conducted the prosecution.
