CPI(M) councillor arrested on charge of theft, expelled from party 

P.P. Rajesh, a Communist Party of India [CPI(M)] councillor representing Noonhumbayi ward successful the Koothuparamba municipality, was arrested connected complaint of stealing an aged woman’s golden necklace. He was thereafter expelled from the party, the CPI(M) Kannur territory committee said.

According to the party, Rajesh, a subordinate of the Koothuparamba East section committee, was expelled from the enactment for tarnishing its reputation.

The alleged incidental occurred past Thursday erstwhile Rajesh allegedly entered the location of P. Janaki, 77, astatine Kanniyarkunnu and reportedly grabbed her from behind, snatched her necklace, and fled connected a scooter.

A constabulary squad led by Koothuparamba Assistant Commissioner of Police K.V. Pramod recovered the necklace.
