The Nagpur seat of the Bombay High Court connected Tuesday (December 2, 2025) directed the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) to behaviour the counting of votes for the section assemblage polls connected December 21, alternatively of December 3.

The HC's bid came connected a time erstwhile polling was underway for elections to 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats successful Maharashtra, days aft the SEC rescheduled the elections successful immoderate section bodies to December 20.

The High Court, portion proceeding a clump of petitions challenging the SEC's decision, besides directed that exit polls should not beryllium announced till December 20.

Senior lawyer Firdous Mirza, appearing for 1 of the petitioners, told PTI that the HC has deferred the counting of votes for the section assemblage elections to December 21.
