Corporation status fuels Karaikudi’s demand for new district

The Assembly Constituency with the highest fig of voters successful the Sivaganga district – Karaikudi – which has received a significant number of developmental works successful the past 5 years has undergone a large translation into an acquisition hub for confederate Tamil Nadu.  

As of the 2026 electoral rolls, Karaikudi remains the largest constituency successful the territory with approximately 3,21,068 voters, followed by Sivaganga and Tirupathur. The constituency is presently represented by S. Mangudi of the Indian National Congress (INC).
