Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena inspected the Thingal Nagar paddy procurement centre connected Tuesday.
The Collector said the paddy harvested during the ‘kanni poo’ play was being procured with 17% moisture from the farmers astatine the minimum enactment terms prescribed by the government. While ₹2,545 per quintal is being fixed for good assortment paddy including the State Government’s inducement of ₹156 per quintal, ₹2,500 is fixed for the communal variety.
Hence, the territory medication had opened the nonstop paddy procurement centres astatine Krishnankovil, Parakkai, Puththalam, Thaeroor, Shenbhagaramanpudur, Thaazhakkudi, Thittuvilai, Siraamadam, Kadukkarai and Thingal Nagar to procure 748 tonnes of paddy from 206 farmers.
“The magnitude is being credited successful the accounts of the farmers immediately,” she said.
After checking the stocks, Ms. Alagumeena verified the records also.
