The Ministry of Jal Shakti has recognised Coimbatore territory nether the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0 (JSJB) inaugural for its h2o conservation efforts, placing it among the districts eligible for the ₹25 lakh prize announced by the Ministry.

Coimbatore territory secured the 2nd fertile successful Category 3 of the Southern Zone for completing 28,147 artificial recharge and retention works.

Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil presented the award, which was received by Additional Collector (Development) Sanket Balwant Waghe connected behalf of the territory medication astatine a ceremonial held connected Tuesday (November 18, 2025) astatine Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

Under the JSJB awards, districts successful Category 1 person ₹2 crore, those successful Category 2 person ₹1 crore and Category 3 districts person ₹25 lakh. Other contributors are besides recognised, and each grant includes a citation signed by the Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

District Collector Pavankumar G.
