Coastal security exercise held for Kerala, Mahe

A two-day coastal information exercise, ‘Sagar Kavach’, for Kerala and Mahe was held connected Thursday (March 12, 2026) and Friday (March 13, 2026) to measure the preparedness of each agencies against asymmetric threats emanating from the sea.

Indian Naval Ships, Coast Guard aboveground assets, patrol boats of the Coastal Police, Customs, Marine Enforcement Wing, and Cochin Port Authority were deployed on the seashore of Kerala arsenic portion of the exercise, according to a release.

Extensive aerial surveillance was besides undertaken by aerial assets of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. The workout was conducted nether the aegis of Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, who is besides the Commander successful Chief, Coastal Defence (South). The workout was coordinated from the Joint Operations Centre (Kochi), the nodal centre for coastal information operations and exercises, according to the release.
