China sees first fiscal revenue drop since 2020 with 1.7% fall

China’s ‍fiscal gross fel l1.7% ​in 2025 from ‌a ​year earlier, the Finance Ministry said connected Friday (January 30, 2026), the archetypal contraction since ​2020, arsenic a ⁠protracted spot slump and anemic home request ​dragged ⁠the economy.

Tax gross roseate 0.8% successful 2025, ‌while income ‌from non-tax sources slumped 11.3%%, ‍the ministry said. Fiscal expenditure roseate ‍1% connected year.

Revenue from onshore income by China’s section governments dropped 14.7% successful ⁠2025 compared with the erstwhile ​year amid the ⁠deep spot downturn.
