Chennai Metro Rail’s passageway boring instrumentality (TBM), Peacock, connected Friday began digging from Panagal Park to Boat Club for gathering an underground web for the Phase II project.

This TBM, which was deployed for tunnelling betwixt Panagal Park and Kodambakkam ramp, was dismantled astatine Kodambakkam and was launched again astatine Panagal Park. Now, Peacock has to drill a region of 1.89 km connected the stretch. It is to beryllium noted that this instrumentality would passageway underneath the existing operational Metro Rail tunnels of the Phase I web adjacent the Nandanam Metro Station. Peacock is expected to scope Boat Club by November 2026.
