The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) celebrated 'Samathuva Pongal' crossed each 15 zones of the metropolis connected Wednesday (January 14, 2026).
Pongal was prepared astatine GCC bureau entrances with caller earthen pots with earthy atom and jaggery, and sugarcane. Colourful kolams were drawn astatine bureau premises, and floral decorations were arranged for the occasion. Traditional creation forms including kummi and parai were performed.
Various competitions specified arsenic uri adithal, tug of war, kolam drawing, philharmonic chairs, and moving races were organised, and prizes were fixed to winners. Gift hampers were besides distributed to frontline workers.
Elected representatives, zonal officials, lasting committee chairpersons, zonal committee chairpersons, councillors, salient persons, officials, and employees took part.
