The Chaliyar River Paddle, claimed to beryllium Asia’s second-longest kayaking expedition, concluded connected Sunday (October 5). The expedition started from Nilambur connected Friday day (October 3) and concluded astatine Cheruvannur adjacent Feroke aft covering 68 km on the stream Chaliyar.

It marked the 11th variation of the Chaliyar River Paddle organised by Jellyfish Water Sports Club. The organisers said that the event, launched with the intent of conserving the Chaliyar arsenic good arsenic promoting escapade h2o tourism, had gained overmuch successful popularity implicit the years.

The youngest subordinate was Swara Iyer, 7, from Bengaluru. Asha Lal, 67, was from Kozhikode. Rayan Kodithodika, 21, led the expedition. They were fixed receptions astatine Areekode, Oorkkadavu, Moorkanadu and Cheruvannur.

Coast Guard adjunct commandant K.T. Varun from Beypore and Jellyfish Water Sports laminitis Kaushik Kodithodika were among those who addressed the valedictory session.

The kayakers collected astir 2,000 kg of discarded from the Chaliyar. They said the discarded they collected would beryllium segregated and sent for recycling.
