Centre extends bid timeline for rare earth magnet scheme

The Ministry of Heavy Industries connected Friday extended the bid timelines for its ₹7,280 crore strategy to make uncommon world magnet manufacturing successful India. 

The bid owed day has been extended from May 28 to June 29, portion the opening of method bids has been rescheduled to June 30.

The Ministry said the revision of timelines was successful effect to request from manufacture stakeholders. It held a pre-bid consultation with the manufacture connected April 7. 

The Ministry had placed a planetary tender connected 20th March 2026 for enactment of manufacturers for the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnet with a fiscal outlay of Rs. 7,280 crore. The Scheme announced successful November 2025 aims to found a full capableness of 6,000 Metric Tons Per Annum (MTPA) of integrated Rare Earth Permanent Magnet manufacturing facilities successful India. 

The determination comes amid China, which dominates uncommon world mining, processing and magnet manufacturing, tightening export controls, triggering supply-chain disruptions crossed industries that trust heavy connected these materials, including electrical vehicles, electronics, renewable vigor and defence.
