The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) connected Saturday (December 20, 2025) arrested Lt. Col Deepak Kumar Sharma, a Deputy Planning Officer (International Cooperation and Exports) with the Department of Defence Productions nether the Defence Ministry, connected graft charge.

Another accused held by the bureau is simply a backstage idiosyncratic named Vinod Kumar.

On Friday (December 19), the CBI registered a lawsuit based connected “reliable root information” against Lt. Col. Sharma, his wife, Col. Kajal Bali (Commanding Officer of 16 Infantry Division Ordnance Unit, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan) and others, including a Dubai-based company, connected charges of transgression conspiracy and bribery.

It is alleged that Lt. Col. Sharma habitually indulged successful corrupt and amerciable activities successful transgression conspiracy with the representatives of assorted backstage companies dealing successful defence products manufacturing, export, etc., by obtaining undue advantage/bribe from them successful speech for undue favours.

According to the agency, Rajiv Yadav and Ravjit Singh are looking aft the India operations of the accused institution and are based successful Bengaluru.

“They person been successful regular interaction with Lt. Col. Deepak Kumar Sharma and are, successful connivance with him, pursuing assorted undue favours by amerciable means for their institution from assorted authorities departments and ministries. One Vinod Kumar delivered a bribe of Rs. 3 lakh, astatine the behest of the said company, to Lt. Col. Deepak Kumar Sharma connected December 18, 2025,” said the CBI.

The bureau conducted searches astatine Sri Ganganagar, Bengaluru, Jammu, and different places, successful which Lt. Col. Sharma’s premises were besides covered. The CBI recovered the alleged bribe magnitude and seized ₹2.23 crore successful currency from his Delhi location and ₹10 lakh from his location successful Sri Ganganagar, successful summation to different incriminating material, arsenic alleged.

“Both the accused persons were produced successful the tribunal today...they are successful constabulary custody remand up to December 23,” the CBI added.
