Bangladesh's first pistillate premier ‌minister, Khaleda Zia, died aft a prolonged illness, her absorption ⁠Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said on ⁠Tuesday (December 30, 2025).

“The BNP Chairperson and erstwhile premier minister, the nationalist person Begum Khaleda Zia, passed distant contiguous astatine 6.00 a.m., conscionable aft the Fajr (dawn) prayer,” the enactment said successful a statement.

“We commune for the forgiveness of her psyche and petition everyone to connection prayers for her departed soul,” it added.

Khaleda, aged 80, had ‌advanced cirrhosis ‌of the liver, arthritis, ‍diabetes, thorax ‍and bosom problems, her doctors said.
