The Vayalar Drama Award instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Samskriti Vedi has been awarded to the play Gandhi by Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan Theatre India. The grant consists of a currency prize of ₹50,001, a citation and a statuette. The play has been selected for the grant by a committee comprising filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan arsenic the assemblage chairperson and George Onakkur and Soorya Krishnamoorthy arsenic its members. The play was written by Francis T.Mavelikkara and directed by Meenambalam Santhosh.
